Who would you say holds the copyright to a picture when it was taken by one person useing another persons camera and downloaded to their computer

Unless you have a signed agreement saying otherwise, or you were EMPLOYED by the owner of the camera, the copyright is yours regardless. Employed is not the same as "hired" or "Commissioned" BTW... as a rule of thumb, if someone pays your PAYE, they employ you, and if they employ you to take photographs, they almost certainly legally own the copyright to the images you take by default.

Cameras don't take photographs... people do. Imagine if you hired a camera from Calumet... would Calumet own the copyright to your images? Of course not.

Indeed. Just thought it was important to make people aware that images taken while employed are going to have copyright assigned to the employer.

I recall one case from donkeys ago where the tog got nothing extra from just happening to be on the seen of something amazing at an airport as he was a staff tog, a freelancer would have earned a fortune by comparision
