I’ve been wrestling with a problem for a few years and I’m getting a little desperate. Hoping someone on here can point me in the right direction.
The problem basically started when Picassa was mothballed. Up until that point all my photos were uploaded to my pc and Picasa did a good job of importing them and sorting them. I was able to dump folders on there and sort out duplicates and it reliably sorted the uploaded images into date order.
I have 11 years of photos stored in this way. Following on from these 11 years of sorted photos I then have maybe four years of photos that are scrambled. Attempts to upload them with various different programs that either failed to sort them correctly, scattered the images over various folders inconsistently, altered the video files to a single frame or just simply wouldn’t upload them means I have multiple copies of some images during this time but none of which I can reliably say is a working and complete copy.
I’m assuming there is a piece of software which will achieve my aims but hours and hours of research has got me nowhere mostly because I don’t really know what I’m doing.
So my aims are these if possible?
Amalgamate all the copies from these scrambled years into one place
Easily identify duplicates as Picasa used to do
Reliably upload pictures and videos without interference so the pictures still have correct metadata and the videos will still play.
Basically I need a modern version of Picasa I think
Any suggestions welcome
