OK, loads of us have mobiles with cameras in them these days, so I reckon it could be interesting to see what we can get from them - a bit like the disposable challenge but with a less antiquated medium! My last 'phone was actually chosen on the basis of the IQ it could turn out - prints up to A5 at fairly good quality and A4 if viewed from a distance! My current 'phone's camera isn't as good but has the advantage of allowing me to access all my e-mails on the move (Blackberry).
As a result of my upgrade, I now have a phone for which I have just procured a free SIM card, allowing me to receive MMSs to a number I don't mind letting every Tom, Dick and Harriet have! I'll start an album in my gallery and will transfer MMSed pics to that on a fairly regular basis (although I reserve the right to leave any I deem totally unfit out, although people will have the right to appeal any such decisions!)
Rules? Well, the pic must have been taken with and processed on a mobile phone (or device), so no clever trickery with file transfers - not sure how to police that but I'll trust you all. Most devices prefer to send smaller files than top quality, full size ones - judging (by myself and my lady wife) will be done based on the image displayed on my phone's screen, so no real point in sending huge files - they'll all be reduced to screen size and resolution as seen on a Sony Ericsson 800i. Opening date is as of Midnight tonight and pics must arrive to me (or be posted here) by Midnight in 4 weeks time (3rd December). Prize will probably be a micro card of an affordable capacity and relevant to the winner, so when the judging's finished and the winner is announced, let me know which format you need. It may take a little while for the prize to arrive - i'll need to order it once I know what to order!
As the judge, I'm obviously disbarred from entering, so that's one less talented opponent to worry about (and you can place the emphasis on the "less talented" wherever you like!) but our decision will be final. Extra points may be given for visual puns (like a photo called "Catnip" that shows a kitten's breasty dumpling rather than a Nepeta bush) especially ones that make us laugh. I promise that my dislike of iDevices will NOT influence my decision on any entries, so dig out that 4s and show what it's up to producing (or, more to the point, what YOU can get out of it!)
Oh, I will NOT be answering calls to the number but texts that include correct bank details as bribes may be acceptable - once funds have cleared! Obviously, any numbers I end up with will be deleted once pics are transferred to the gallery album - I will NOT be selling a list to anyone. To save myself money (and make the prize better, natch), I shall not be acknowledging receipt of entries by text - check in the album and in this thread - I'll try to keep an up to date list of entries as and when they come in.
One final rule, only 2 pics per member please - I do have a life outside the forum, even if I am here frequently.
