weekly philthejuggler's '52 - Week Three - Gravity - Gravity + snow = fun!

Great shot of a stranger. I'll have to go to Northampton more often!

Focus, colours & composition are lovely and you got a great smile out of her too so well done. My only negative would be her face looks a bit plastic... Was she wearing a heavy load of make up or did you smooth her face too much in PP?

don't have the nerve to shoot strangers.. she's a pretty girl, lovely wintery portrait.. agree on the teeth but that's a minor niggle for me..

Lovely portrait, for a random person approached by a stranger she managed to pull of a nice relaxed pose.

Hi Phil

now , you've done 2 portrait type shots & for both you have used attractive models...is this going to be a re-occuring theme in your thread

As a portrait I like it , beautifully sharp , great colors & nice tilt of the head  Wish there had been more snow though....hat & scarf link to the cold season but snow would've topped it off really well

Can't add anything more than what's been said already but I like the shot
Don't know as I would have the cahunas to ask to take a photo of a total random stranger...given you did that I hope you got her number too...so you can get in contact to send her the photo of course :)

Hi Phil :)

Season - that's a cracking portrait and a great model you found, such a pleasing pose, great background - nuf said

Many thanks! :D

She was wearing an amount of make-up and I did add a bit of smoothing. I've looked back at the un-edited version and I don't think there's a lot of difference.

Thanks!

There was a lot of snow in the background but the very thin dof reduces its impact I guess.

Week 3: Gravity

Gravity + snow = fun!

Week 3: Gravity

Well I risked life and limb for these shots! I stood about 1/3 of the way down a sledging slope and used my 135L at or near wide open (f/2.0) to capture these shots. All need a little boost in exposure to get the snow white.

To assemble the tryptych I first cropped the middle shot to get the subjects a similar size in the frame to the other two and then used the Lightroom print function.

All were taken on the 1Ds3 - thank goodness for its good servo AF!

Hope you like it and thanks for looking.

Phil

Great photos Phil, and thanks for the explanation

Nice one Phil, your season image is bang on theme.
Great composition through the triptych, leading the viewers eye down and through the set. I like the strong contrast feel to the images, it appeals to my personal taste/look. Only a small crit, I feel they are cropped a little too tight, mainly the centre image and the top of the fellas head but other than that  Iain

nice triptych tells the story well and well done for not getting mowed down by a sledge

looks like some fun was being had there.. love their expressions... esp. on the middle image.. nicely put together

Captured the fun and composed the whole thing really well, and the tryptych was a good idea.

Nice group of shots capturing the fun gravity can give us

Sin.....not a new photo :rules: :D hmmmmm can't see any lust there :shake: Great shot, perfect lighting to show his toned physique.

Season...I hope street photography doesn't come out too soon, nice natural smile although the white teeth and orange make up are at war a little. It shows you are used to shooting people and making them feel comfortable pointing a camera at them.

Gravity.... 3 good shots put together but would have preferred one to be a little wider to show the gradient of the hill and almost a panning shot with a slow shutter speed.

Nice set of photos Phil, with great focus and clarity and capturing the fun atmosphere. Well done.

I really like this, I have never used the print function in Lightroom, but will have to check it out!

I agree with some of the above, that the crops are a little tight, but it's impressive enough getting 3 images that portray a real sense of movement/progression all at a similar size.

I better get thinking!

Clever use of a tryptych, I feel like I spent the day there and that everyone had great fun!

Story told, theme nailed. nuff said.
