Hiya Phil,

Wow I really like this photo, love the way the lights and colours reflect in the water and I think you have captured the buildings from a good angle.

Cheers

Dawn :)

thanks, wasnt expecting such a good comment as im still learning. my mate came out with us and he gave me some pointers

love the reflection of the lights on the water

Nice photo Phil.

I take it you cranked up the ISO for this as there seems to be quite a bit of noise around the top of the buildings.

For me personally, I would have the photo slighlty more level, but obviously you may have taken that angle on purpose?

ISO was set at 200, been looking at the sky and thinking it wasnt quite right, any advise how to sort it?

I like the orientation and composition other than that stray building on the far right, I'd either frame to exclude or crop it out.

The colours are affected by the sodium lights and I think add to the atmosphere of the image.

I also agre with the others in that I like the reflections also

very nice good composition  i like the colours as well you should be well chuffed good pic well done:thumbs:

This is the problem with shooting long exposure nights shots on a cloudy night. There is basically a huge reflector chucking back yucky orange street lighting. Coupled with the green lights atop of the building explains why you get the mucky black at the top of the buildings (think what would happen if you mix a green light and an orange light).

Go back on a nice clear evening (or where there are just a few clouds) and shoot during the blue hour (that early evening rich blue sky rather than the black of late night) and you will get an even better photo.

Hiya Phil,

Happy Birthday for yesterday.

Have you ever heard the saying 'if at first you don't succeed, try and try again'. As Mike said, don't give up, just see it as a challenge to get two photos this week.

Here is an idea, did you get any birthday cards? You could always use them as a prop for your New theme, as you said a New year for you.

I hope you manage to think of something and look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Good luck.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hiya Phil,

Well done!!! I really like this image, in a good way it has my eyes dancing all over the show by the way you have captured all the little dots and the b&w works well.

A nice pressie you have there, enjoy!

Look forward to see what you come up with now for week 3.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Nice  Lovin the fact youve changed it to Black and White, really makes it looks cool!

well finally got round do trying the shot i wanted, went to styal driving range with a mate. was looking for a slow shutter and try and get him all blurry but was just a little too dark and swing too quick to get anything half decent, will try again in day light.

anyway, best of a bad bunch. not really happy with it didnt put a flash on and had to have a crazy high shutter speed so had to rely on iphoto to brighten it up, that coupled with the silly ISO4000 makes it look ***** lol...oh well

only thing im really happy with is the timing of the shot, took 2 attempts to get it mind.

hope to get open done today, did get a shot of my mate above at the top of the swing and TBH his club face was open a bit lol...
