PHASE ONE 645 af p21 medium format camera

I'm very new to the photography and have got hold of a Phase one 645 af with 80mm af lens. I want to get into studio photography and really understand that this camera is way to advance for me. I have connected this to the computer and the digital back seems to work ok and the camera focuses and clicks to take a picture.

However when the picture comes on the screen or direct link to the computer the picture is black.

Does anyone no what could be wrong with the camera?

Underexposed?
We'd really need a bit more technical info, do you have a suitable raw converter? what light levels / settings?
You say you're 'new to photography', do you understand Manual exposure etc?
 
There's a lot of things that it could be. While fantastic cameras, they are also some of the simplest on the market, with a limited set of options and settings, so don't let that put you off going forward.

I assume you're tethering the camera to Capture One on your computer, and it's registering as being connected?

Check your exposure, lens etc as others have suggested as a first step. If you can upload one of the black pictures I might be able to see a problem.

thanks for the reply. Im new too photography however i understand f stop and shutter speeds iso etc. I have teethered the camera to capture one camera is being regonise by the appliacation. The digital back p21 all working fine. When i take a picture, the camera focuses on the object and u can hear the shutter click. Then on capture one the picture comes up with all information however it is just back. I will try later tonight to load up in photoshop and turn the brightness up and also try to load on hear. The camera has been sitting in a store room for ages so could do with a service maybe? The digital.back is showing that it has taken approx 130000 pictures (from memory).

another question i have is.it also comes with a Phase one 80mm AF lens and a Mamiya 80mm AF lens Both seem to be fine, which is the better lens?
 
HMM, very odd.

Not sure off the top of my head - they might well be exactly the same lens in different packaging, phase one have a branded kit that's just mamiya.

That's a lot of shutter actuations for this type of camera, indeed, might be worth a service, though I dread to think how much Phase will sting you for that.

It would really help if you'd answered the questions re settings and light levels.
