I'm looking to purchase some Perspex to try out in my home studio, I quite like the reflection look but not sure where to buy it from, I've looked in BnQ, wickes etc but can't find any, any suggestions? Also is Perspex the right thing I'm looking for? And what thickness do you recommend?
Thanks
Marco

I've just purchased some clear Perspex for the same reason. I bought mine from B&Q and it was located in the building materials section not with the general stuff inside. Not cheap either. Plus try and avoid the 2mm thick stuff as it cracks easily if there is an uneven base!

Have a look in the set up thread in the people section as I've just posted my results.

Hi mark,
Thanks for the reply, yeh I saw your posts in that thread hence what made start this thread :) it's an even floor in the house but will get thicker one just incase, that's weird because I looked in every section in BnQ and couldn't find any. Out of interest, what price am I looking to pay?
Thanks
Marco

I paid around £35 for a 4" x 4" piece.

I'm guessing you mean 4 foot x 4 foot not 4 inches by 4 inches? That would be expensive! Lol.

I have a 6'x4' piece of polycarbonate that is 3mm thick. It's virtually unbreakable, It's also been hard coated on one side so is very scratch resistant. If you want something that won't break, try polycarbonate. I wouldn't suggest getting it hard coated though, as it's blooming expensive.

Hi dean, thanks for your advice, where would I get hold of polycarbonate? Never heard of it before? How much did that cost you before having it hard coated?
Thanks
Marco

Just googles polycarbonate sheets, looks like try sell them at wickes, but would you not see the lines of the sheet in the photo if you see what I mean?

Plastics from B&Q and Wickes are over priced.

Perpex is slighty cheaper than polycarb, but polycarb is almost 1000 times strong than glass you can also back polycarb with hardcoat already on.

I work for a plastics stockists so any advice on plastics please feel free to PM me.

Hi.
Good advice from George.
If George can supply p/c hard coated, it may be worth a look.
The polycarbonate from wicks is the ribbed stuff for roofs and is not the stuff. The normal stuff looks just like Perspex.
The stuff I got was expensive as it is optical grade and was hard coated with a special optical grade coat. It was a reject sheet from my company so cost me nowt :-)
Dean.
