Yes
It was my birthday yesterday. Over tea [steak I must add!!], whilst chatting, the other half asked how much money I had been given......
"£110" was my reply.
She said, "Why don't you put that money towards that Leica & treat yourself?"
"What about the other £5-6000?" I replied.
"I thought it was £1600?"
"That's the X100vi......."

Now, here lies my dilemma......

Is that a legally binding verbal contract for me to purchase a Leica?
Will it stand in a court of law?
We are getting married next month - Will I be divorced BEFORE we even marry?
Would I be okay to buy an X100vi?
Should I just use the X100f* until the paint wears off?
Would you recommend the Leica M10 & 35/2?
Or should I go a bit cheaper with a Voigtlander 35mm etc?
Who will get custody of the dog?

So many unanswered questions.......

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

* I'll probably do this knowing me.....

Well that is technically a LEICA and only £899. Problem solved :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ200 Which has a Leica lens; would that be good enough?

I had a look at that web site and it doesn't actually work very well on Windows 11.

Not really a good advertisement for the quality of their computer based product... :naughty:

works absolutely fine. I am not a big fan of that layout, hammering on "benefits" to no end. But technically it works.

Not for me.

The horizontal scroll locked up when I tried to go back to the left and then the vertical scroll locked up as well. Messing about with the cursor keys and escape made it stutter into action for a few pixels in each direction but it doesn't work properly on this LG Gram, which is generally reliable with web pages.

Lee, your mistake was to tell the lady more of the truth than was necessary - she had given you carte blanche for the red dot purchase but then you corrected her misapprehension as to the final cost!

Keep enjoying the X-100f!!!

How much is she spending on the wedding dress and bridesmaid outfits? You should be due at least that amount what with equality and all that.

Blow the wedding budget on the camera. Convince her that the Leica wedding photos will look better, even if she is wearing Primark and you've got the best man to take the pictures.

Yes! Go for it. Remember a Leica is for life... a wife can be replaced..... I'll get my coat.

Use the £110 towards an appointment at your local massage parlour.

Not only will this put the future missus in her place, it will stop you wasting money on hipster cameras.

Ah but a potential wife who understands a man's photographic desires is to be cherished.
Actually I was thinking about it after I posted and to be honest she sounds like a keeper. As you say she encouraged Lee in his time of need ;)
My err indoors says like like " Do you really need another flash?" Then checks the bank account very quickly...

tbh, I think I'll be happy with that anyway :)

That could work, my son is best man, he knows how to use a camera and has an A level in photography from last year :ROFLMAO:

Buy the X100vi and tell her you've just saved 4 1/2 grand towards the wedding! (y)

^ I'm going to show her that one :) That's good!

^ this though. Someone who supports my photography and my classic car hobbies is a rare thing!

the difference between being married and not married is finding out who is the boss, AND IT AIN'T YOU ANY MORE. Me? just done 53 years of being hitched up to "She who must be obeyed". So get what you want now as you don't stand any chance later on

Support yes, but will she sponsor your hobbies?

I only hope lee you realise for trhe rest of your life once married you can do nothing right. That is apart from the ear bashing. There is one get out I use that really annoys er indoors and could be your saviour , that is to everything she says answer a plain and simple "yes dear"
After a few time being hit with the frying pan the next step is to say " I am just going out" that really p***es her off . Of course night time is The worst she will insist on having all the bed and blankets and if she snores god help you.

there is the old joke of first time married and come time for bed. She starts off by removing the wig- next the false eye lashes then the makeup. next is clothing with the false padded bra - bum lifting Knickes etc . BY this this time the new husband says to her " when your ready, can you throw over the bit I am interested in?

One thing you must never ever do and that is to fart under the bedclothes, your life won't be worth living

do all that and marriage is bliss

You will get a very good Leica Q with the fixed 28mm f1.4 lens for £2k ........ well worth the money

Same goes for a very good M240

a good M9, if you can find one, is also worth considering

(all three of the above will not lose much money or indeed keep their current value)

The Voigtlander 35mm f1.7 is a good lens plus the more modern Voigtlander CV lens

Older lens - Canon produced a few 35mm and 50mm lens that are Leica fit and are well regarded

We've been together many years, and both been married before, and this is the perfect blend where there is no boss ;)

I've people on here already pushing me to a Q  :$ But I'm not sure I want an EVF.... Or 28mm though.... I'll have to bump into @gramps again shooting some street when he has his in his pocket :) :ROFLMAO: I'll also have to have another go with a rangefinder patch too. And I've no issue with Voigtlander lenses, I've owned a few in the past.

Happy to meet up again sometime Lee :)

She doesn't need to. She can sponsor her own hobbies :)

Mrs Nod can spend what she likes on shoes and I'm allowed to spend whatever I want on photography kit. Hopefully, at the end of the month, we can share expenses on motorbikes!!!

Number one priority is custody of the dog. After that is sorted you are free to do whatever you want. But do it quietly.

I could see that custody of the dog would be a big issue if we ever broke up. "You have her." "No, no. She's yours." "But I insist....."

This. Definitely.

I might be getting some inheritance money towards the end of the year, was thinking a Leica M of some description with a 28mm Summicron.

That Q3 does look a good bit of kit. I'll be getting something 2nd Hand.

I used to sell Leica & Hassleblad, I did have a 500CM but sold that on here, time for a smaller camera for me, I currently have a Nikon D700 but rarely use it this days as carrying about isn't convenient, I've got so used to using my Iphone these days. The quality & clarity you can get with Leica lenses when used well is awesome.

Congratulations, hope the wedding goes well and you have a camera good enough for the Honeymoon!
