Has anyone used this paper and had any problems with it?

I got a box the other day, using a Canon Pixma Pro 100, put a sheet in and printed on it. The ink simply didnt "stick" to the paper. It was almost running when it came out of the other end and i could easily slide my finger all the way across it, totally damp. I tried regular Pearl and that prints perfectly well. The ultra does seem to have a slightly shinier texture to it but i would assume the ink would still apply to it perfectly well.

I have a Pro 100. I bought a sample pack from Permajet some time ago. I've just checked and I've obviously tried 2 sheets of Ultra Pearl at some point. Obviously not impressed enough to buy any more or use the three remaining sheets. However if I'd have had your experience I would certainly have remembered it. Are you using Print Studio Pro or printing directly from an application ?

Edit: Just ran one of the three remaining sheets through using Print Studio Pro. Dry on exit and no smudging at all.

i was printing direct from Lightroom. I'll try another sheet at some point just to see. Seems a waste of a box otherwise! Youd think they would notice this at permajet when they produced the paper so it has to be something to do with me.

Daft question but you did put the paper in the right way, this can happen if you put it in the wrong way round

And do you use a custom profile or generic one?

I useit with my Epson R3000. Its very nice apart from I don't like the ultra pearl texture really. I bought a box of 100 so just using it up! I prefer Fotospeed PF Lustre or the old Illford Smooth pearl papers (that both Fotospeed and Permajet do)

yeah pretty sure i was putting it in the right way. Im using the permajet profile for that paper. The only thing i can think of is that it isnt the flattest of papers, there is a curve to it when it sits in the tray, so maybe it scrapped along the print head as it went through. Im not overly keen on the finnish to it either, i was just suckered into getting a box by the advertising for it :) But it wasnt cheap so i better use it up!

Wow, that's weird then. Any chance the printer driver wasn't set up for the correct type of paper (matte, glossy, etc.) or the correct type of black ink to use? I'm sure you have both LR and the printer driver set up correctly ... but other than this I'm out of ideas.

If other papers print OK, and the only difference is the profile than that's worrying. What type of paper description ( Glossy Matte Lustre) do Permajet recommend you use , and is this different to the other papers.

I'd have a word with Permajet to see what they think maybe the problem

well i downloaded all the permajet profiles off their site and used the ultra one. I'll give it another go later and see what happens. Like you say, if it comes to it i'll send them a mail, their support seems to be on the ball when you want custom profiles made up so they might be equally good with problems :)
