Hi all

looking for a bit of advice on Perfect Photo Suite 8 please. I currently use a mixture of LR5, PSE10 and the full NIK suite in my post processing armory. I have seen the mentioned software is available with a few offers. My question is - has anyone used it and found any additional benefits that my current collection cant provide. I've had a look through their site and a few videos and like some of the stuff, but am not 100% convinced I really gain anything that I cant achieve already.

Any feedback from users would be appreciated

many thanks

Gary

Hi, I use the PPS 8 and before the 7. If you feel you would use ALL that is available in the suite then yes and there is a special going now that if you own NIK you can get $50 off the suite.
However looking at what you have I would just go for the Perfect Effects 8 or download the whole suite for a months trial.
I find it a lot easier to use especially when it comes to masking.

Do you mean anyone that owns the Google Nik Collection can get $50 off onOne's Perfect Photo Suite 8?

I have the Perfect Photo Suite 8, the NIK suite and the Topaz plug-ins, and I find I use parts of all of them, although not necessarily on every image, it just depends if I'm looking for a specific effect.
Perfect Photo Suite 8 has a really good eraser tool for removing unwanted objects, although some of the adjustment tools are also very good.
Because Perfect Photo Suite 8 works with layers, it saves your images in Photoshop (.PSD) file format and this can cause a problem.
Because NIK and Topaz will only work with tiff or jpg formats, you need to be careful at what point you introduce Perfect Photo Suite 8 into your workflow.
There may be a way of saving tiff files with Perfect Photo Suite 8, but if there is, I have not yet found it.

If you're interested in Perfect Photo Suite 8 then why not download the trial and check it out.
For a run down on it's features watch some of the PPS8 archived webinars on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/onOneSoftwareU/videos?shelf_id=9&view=50&sort=dd

Thanks Brian, I'm checking out the videos - interesting point about the tiff's.
I've investigated PPS8 and there are options to save the files as tiffs or jpegs in addition to .PSD.
I don't know how this affects any layers, since I haven't tried it yet, but presumably it merges all the layers before saving.
By saving as a tiff or jpeg it makes it easier to pass files between the different plug-ins.
