I got it as a free download a while ago and have just installed a free upgrade version to 8.5.2.
I shoot all my originals as RAW on Canon DSLR and post-process in Aperture and Photoshop CS6. Perfect Effects can operate as a plug-in for either App.
It is what it says on the tin.... An Effects software app. Consequently how useful it is depends on how often you want to apply effects, which in my case is not often. But when used it can be very useful indeed. It simply depends on the image.
This was a shot on my Lumix TZ60 pocket camera during a TV show - I think it's Taylor Swift. You can imagine how degraded the original photo was but Perfect Effects really enhanced the image into something I like....
