Hi all

I've recently bought a Pentax Kx with 18-55 and 50-200mm lenses.

However, I'm finding that the 50-200mm lens is just a bit short for taking those bird piccies in the garden so I'm looking for something that's going to get me a bit closer.

Can anyone recommend a cheap, semi-decent lens or where I might be able to pick one up (other than ebay?)

I would post in the 'wanted classifieds', but my post count is too low!

Any help gratefully received, I'm new to DSLRs. Thank you

cheaper the better really.

I've seen new sigma and tamron lenses for £100-£120 and that's quite a bit more than I want to spend at the moment.

I really want one just to have a play with, don't mind if it's an old manual one

Firstly, how long is your garden !? :)

good luck finding something that's less than £100 tbh. If you're lucky you might see a sigma 70-300 second hand for £70 or similar, but being a pentax mount will limit your opportunites.

Have you looked on the pentax user uk forum to see if they have any in the classified section or tried SRS microsystems used equipment section.

Check here for a list of used specialist websites. Most of them cater for Pentax users.

As Jon said, Pentax specific forums would be a good place to look. Another is below:

It's not a UK-specific forum, but there are a lot of users who are based here and if they're not most of them will ship worldwide.

What about a teleconverter? Ok you will loose a stop or 2 and possibly the AF function but it will be a cheaper option to play with. Kenko do some cost effective options.

Thanks for the replies :-)

I'm already on pentax user, I'll check out pentax forums.

Thanks for the links to the retailers, I'll check those out too :-)

FYI - SRS are reliable and offer free P&P on Pentax kit to Pentax User UK forum users
