Pentax have announced that they will be launching next spring a couple of new models of their GR IV compact camera. The one that interests me is a Mono only version, using the technology from the K3iiiM DSLR. I have the latter and can't make a good enough case for buying the GR IVm but it would be tempting, just for the craic.

It could sidetrack me! :$
Would need to keep at least one x-pro2 though.

It's awfully tempting. GR IV is £1199 I believe, so it'll probably be the same. I think it will depend whether my contract is renewed at the end of March.

Scale of manufacture. They will be more expensive because they won't be as popular, and not as many will be made.

It looks like most of the product is the same as the existing camera though - other than sensor from the K3iiiM and software, from what I can see. So I think they are actually extracting more mileage from existing tooling and processes.
