Pentax ad homage

A blast from the past . . .
Back in about 1960/61 I had a spell in the main shop at Wallace Heaton's 127 New Bond Street shop. All of the Leica, Rollei and other quality makes (but including the far from quality Reid and Wray Leica copies) were in the glass cabinets behind the counter but the Pentax and some other "Japanese Rubbish" cameras, including the Mamiya TLR, were stuck in a glass cabinet in an out-of-the-way place, presumably to discourage customers from even seeing them, even though they were years ahead of their time and far better than most other makes.

Ah! Pentax will forever hold a special place in my heart. The MX was my first proper camera. It even went up the Himalayas with me.

A proper Pentax classic with a totally improper lens - the f1.2 Rikenon...
