Penalties. Where would you stand?

Yes
What sort of angles would you prefer to work from. I shoot non league stuff, so penalties are a reasonably regular feature. I use a 100-400, or a 70-200 to give an idea of kit.

It's just that I've never really found a good place to be.

Dominos!! :D

(Non league, any clues);)

Most sports have a non league to semi to pro league heiarchy and .. could easy have been rugby... however a safe bet would have been footy :)

Depends who you want.. the keeper or the attacker.. I get as close to goal as possible then he/she is shooting right down the lens..

The actual taking of the penalty is pretty dull - it's just a person kicking a ball. I do tend to follow the shooter but try to get the celebration. Depends if they are right or left footed as to which way they'll run. As most are right footed, they seem to keep going to their right after kicking it in, so I'd position myself to the left of the goal towards the corner flag.

Always nice if you have the chance to get behind the goal with a wide angle

Could have also been basketball or ice hockey

Occasionally I may use a wide angle and shoot though the net. If no space then I may go for a wider shot of the kicker and try to follow him if he scores. With luck he'll come my way if not I may try to run after him for the cele shot. If he misses its all rubbish anyway unless he does something dramatic like dropping to his knees with hads on his head or something like! Alternatively if the keeper makes a save and gets mobbed by teamates I may try for that.
