Peak District and tents

I understand that camping outside of campsites is not permitted... However I'm planning on a few visits over the winter to photograph star trails and sunrises from various peaks. What are the implications of setting up a tent for shelter while I'm shooting?

I did the same last winter around the E Dale area. four days and nights of camping and never saw a soul. If you're far enough the beaten track i don't think anyone will bother you
