Morning all,

I have a fully set up backup system for my iMac, Lr & photography etc... but am looking into an extra online back up option, here I the UK.

I have used Dropbox, however I don’t see Dropbox as true back up because it’s more of a sync service and so anything you put there also stays on the main drive, unless you use smart sync which is a faff.

So I wondered if anyone has had any experience with pCloud or IDrive? They seem to have good reviews, pCloud in particular & also pCloud in particular looks to be a proper back up & even acts as an external hard drive so you can save/backup to it as you would a normal external drive?

Many thanks :)

Have a look at Backblaze, its unlimited for storage and not that expensive IMHO, works in the background using little resource on my Mac, my photos are on an external TB2 raid array, works fine for this, plus you can set it to ignore specific folders if you wish. You can choose length of time to store deleted files if you pay more, I just use the least default option. I'm in the UK and it works fine for me.

i use idrive for my backup solution, i have 2tb of synch backup from my microserver.
it is very good, the client software is nice and easy as well, it synchs the files every 30mins and does a full incremental backup every 24h keeping the last 6 versions of any changed file.

Thank you both for this, very helpful :)
