PC strikes again in school newsletter photographs

Madness. But this quote from the site sums up the stupidity perfectly.

This is more sinister than I thought at first glance.

Look closely at what these so-called children are actually doing. They are clearly experimenting with a scale model of Tower Bridge and would appear to be determining the weak points of the structure.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Tower Bridge is terrifyingly near to the Palace of Westminster, where our collective Dear Leaders watch over us with all their collective might and majesty.

These small people masquerading as children are clearly terrorists intent on blowing up the British seat of government.

They must be hunted down like dogs and arrested immediately.

Luckily, their cunning plan will be foiled because they were foolhardy enough to all wear the same easily noticeable bright yellow mask.

Ah but I know what school they are in and so I will follow them all home and paint pink polka dots on their mailboxes...

:gag:

PC went mad this is just getting out of hand now. One day soon no children will be allowed out in public without full body covers so noone can see any of there skin. I hate the way this country has gone and I am going to take the first chance I get to move out of it.

Lets all go to New Zealand! Might get discount if all TP members go at once :)

In the article there's a comment about covering the faces for the web but not printed newsletters as the web is available to a wider audience.

The primary school my kids attended once said a similar thing about the nativity play - no digital cameras, only film.

A newsletter can be scanned as can a negative which goes to show just how stupid these policies and the people repsonsible for them are - the scary part for me is that these people are educating our children :(

:bang: for goodness sake!! You are right though, the scary thing is these are the people that are teaching our kids!!

The funny thing is, when I took over the photography and website for my daughters karate club a few months ago, I sent out letters to all the parents explaining that we would be photographing the kids and pictures would be published on the website and should any of them not want this to happen, to please inform me...how many negatives did I get from over 150 parents? NONE!! Not one!! A small sample I admit, but it demonstrates how reactions such as demonstrated by this school are not necessarily at parental request but merely cotton wool wrapping gone mad :suspect:

This is absurd pc gone mad. Either show the faces or son;t bother to take the photos. If people want to get hold of pictures of children for whatever reason this will not stop them, pointless.

Simple solution

Don't publish on the web

they could of at least used a variety of smileys - they can't all of been happy to be building bridges. And surely theres someone thats not in a group with their best friend so they need some :( and some :eek:s as well :D

This makes me laugh when i hear this sort of things, But i think perents should be asked to come in to the school or be sent a letter a couple of days before a tog is coming and ask them all about it and if they agree to it, they have to give written permission.

If they're going to be put on the web, then why not get the kids to make themselves masks. That way the kids have fun and conceal their "identity" from would be what-evers. And we're not subjected to really bad photoshoping.

Am I being thick?? What harm can come to a child by having a photo on the internet?

Deborah Fermor, 35, who has three children at the school, said: "I think it's right, I don't think there should be pictures of children on the internet."

!

In fact, why not ban children in public altogether?

God only knows what might happen if they're out and about amongst the Great British public...

:cuckoo:

You're right this country has gone crazy, I was on holiday in florida at christmas in a disney hotel, the kids were in the pool playing, I wasa dying to take some pictures of them as they were having real fun but the british mentality of you can't photograph children in public took over.

then I thought sod it and got the camera out, nobody blinked an eyelid, not even the lifeguards so I took dozens of them, if i'd done that in the UK i'd probably be on the sex offenders register by now

This is getting silly

This is particularly so:
Deborah Fermor said:
"I think it's right, I don't think there should be pictures of children on the internet. It's a sign that the world is changing."

Come on, it's not pr0n. :p

The kids have probably all got Facebook accounts anyway.

And their parents probably don't have the faintest idea what their kids are hiding in hidden folders in a mysteriously big folder with only a few small files ;)

Burqa's oh no.

Do a google search for "burqa" and see what comes up;)

last week I did my first commission for a local news paper - they hired me for the day, for a "special" they were running - my job was to visit 5 infant/junior school and take lots of photos of the children in traditional Welsh costume for the ST David’s day feature in the paper.

Now although the paper had phoned the schools and told them I was visiting - none of the schools asked me for any ID, or questioned who I was and only one asked me to sign in and out. (why?)
Only one of the schools took the time to cross check the classes I had photographed against the list of permissions they had been given from the parents to ensure that no pupils were photographed that should not have been.(all of them checked if I asked, but only if I asked…)
At one point I felt very embarrassed as I had to ask a teacher /assistant to ask a girl to pull her skirt down (she was sitting crossed legged on the floor – the skirt had ridden up) - why did I need to ask? The teacher /assistant should have been protective of this sort of thing and spotted it long before I took a shot….
