PC for editing 7D VIDEO PLEASE HELP!

I know youve probably heard this a million times. But I am in need of a new computer, I want to edit 7d footage and also will need to be editing photos to be printed and mounted. I dont know alot about building computer so please try to keep it as simple as possible ;)

I understand theres has been alot of hassle with editing 7d video but am hoping there is something available now that people can reccommnend. any info would be much appreciated!

Hi, have you considered an iMac? Since I've bought one I've never looked back, it's fast, no wires, looks very nice and is just a pleasure to use.
 
more or less any i5 or i7 based pc's should allow you to edit full hd video footage

the faster the processor the faster the rendering there's also video cards that some editing software can use for editing purposes ( usually nvidia )

at the beginning of last year i replaced my pc with a new build for this very reason my older P4 clocked at 3.5ghz just wasn't up to the task i decided on an i7 2600k processor and it does a fine job but it's not all about the processor speed alone but it is quite a big factor when it comes to rendering HD video

other things to take into account is what software you plan on using
quite a lot of the video editing software isn't 64bit and this limits the amount of memory that can be used to 2gig regardless of how much total memory your pc has ( sony's vegas pro for example ) and can limit the length of your edited video
there are workarounds to some of the problems i have discovered but most slow the rendering process down

the short answer is in the first line
i'm only scratching the surface with the long answer :)
