Guys

Ive seen this mentioned on numerous threads. What does it mean, is a way around fees or something?

If you pay someone 'PayPal gift' they do not get charged when the payment goes through, you do! Unless you have funds in your account, then there is no charge to you or the recipient! Simple!

Sending money through paypal gift is free, however theres no insurance with using it. If anything goes wrong you can't claim back from paypal.

From PayPal site 'There are no fees for personal payments to friends and family that are funded via your bank account or PayPal balance.'
Any other method incurs a charge!
And yes, there's no comeback or cover.

Relevant part of PayPal User Agreement.

If you are selling goods or services, you may not ask the buyer to send you a personal transaction payment for the purchase. If you do so, PayPal may remove your ability to accept any or all payments for personal transactions.

But it does'nt say anything about the buyer, NOT asking if it is prefered!!:D

In the same paragraph: A personal transaction involves sending money (initiated from the “Personal” tab of the “Send Money” flow) to, and receiving money into your PayPal Account from, friends and family without making a purchase (that is, the payment is not for goods or services).

S'up to them to police it! But I wouldn't like to feel that the charges I pay are much higher than they need be, cos poor old PayPauper isn't receiving enough fees. Then again, they rake in over a quid for every £30 donated to charity.
