Why has this payment meathod caught on here as the normal way to do buisness, across on classified I have been reading a deal went wrong and it looks like a member has lost £285 for sure, what can I do next he asks?, well you could have complained to paypal but since you gave the money away you cant, ok I have bought 1 item from classified for a small amount and payed by gift, so how much would you pay by gift? and should the pay by gift practice be discouraged all together?

I would quite happily take pay pal normal payment if the buyer pays the fees, as would most sellers it's the buyer that is to blame as he doesn't want to pay the extra
fees are 3% more if paypal are drawing from your credit card

if you're more than happy to pay the fees on an item you want to buy from me, thats fine, go the normal PP route. More often than not the buyer won't pay

and also its often the seller because in a normal transaction if the buyer pays by standard paypal then claims theres a problem paypal will recover the money from the sellers account and side witgh the buyer no matter what.

PPG is no more risky than bank transfer or cash on collection which are the other usual routes for clasifieds buys - buying second hand from a private individual is always potentially risky which is why we have the itrader system -if you ny trade with those with decent feedback there shouldnt be a problem - and if things do go south at least the mods try to help resolve the issue - which is more than can be said for ebay
