I see more and more sites wanting me to set up a passkey. I've a general idea how it works, a code on your device somewhere that by some means authenticates you to the site you're trying to log in to. Vast over-simplification and probably wrong!

I've read a few comments suggesting the system isn't for prime time yet. I can't remember why, but passkeys not sharing between browsers figures dimly in my memory. What about shared computers?

I use 1Password, so I'm guessing they should have a decent implementation and I should probably be OK.

Can anyone convince me to use them, or not use them? Thanks.

Passkeys are a very good idea but sad you say, it's relatively early and syncing can be an issue.

But IMO one of the best apps to deal with them is 1Password so you're all good :)

Best idea of to make sure you've logged into 1p on at least 2 devices so if you lose one, recovery is easy. Phone and computer should be fine. There's an app for pretty much everything.
