Has anyone used mifsuds for part exchange on any of their equipment, its just i am wanting to upgrade from my canon 550d and seen mifsuds advertised, just wondering if they are reliable and efficient
 
I've bought gear from them and had no problems. I'm sure that you could get a much better price selling privately. If you get your requisite posts and length of service, you could advertise here.
 
Yep, reliable and efficient however their valuations aren't really competitive with other places let alone selling privately! Try MPB Photographic (banner at the top of this page).
 
I used them a few years back for a part exchange, they were helpful, efficient and reliable. At the time the deal suited me and I was happy with the transaction, which was dealt with by them without and problems.

The only point is that you may get a better deal selling privately, but then again you may struggle to sell the item, or you may not want the hassle of doing so, in which case what represents a fair deal on a part exchange is something only you can judge.

As the last poster suggested it would be worth an e-mail to MPB as they are also helpful and reliable, they may offer a better deal, even on a part exchange for a new camera. I know someone who used them when he wanted to sell his kit, he got the best price from MPB, who also arranged courier collection.
 
I haven't used mifsuds, but I can heartily recommend MPB having bought several cameras from them. They give a good price when you part exchange, thoroughly check the kit they sell and respond quickly to any queries/issues you have.....check their website!
 
Mifsuds is my local camera shop and the are very reliable and helpful although I've never part exchanged in there. I can also recommend mpb as well, again never part exchanged.
 
Had a quote comeback in the week they work on 50+% off list. Private averages between 25-40% depending on goods.
Mifsuds do have a good rep though.
 
I have used them a few times and have always been very happy with the service. I have px'ed gear once when buying as they offered a very good price, on other occasions their px prices have been low so I have sold privately instead. They are very good at describing the condition of used goods in detail if you phone them.
 
Never used them myself, but have asked for a couple of quotes and both times laughably low
 
Can't comment on Mifsuds but will add another thumbs up for MPB. They gave some good, IMHO, prices for my stuff when I cleared out all my Canon gear. The fact that they pay for collection is another plus point.

LCE is another option. Ive traded with them in the past and always found you can haggle a bit more out of them price wise. Don't accept their first offer.

A few more posts and you'll probably be able to sell in the classified here, probably get a better price as well.
 
I have p/ex'ed with Mifsuds, the price they offered for my lens was near enough the same as MPB (£20 difference if I remember correctly), I think it all boils down to what you have to P/x ,I don't think you get a top dollar quote on something they may find hard to shift themselves. I can say though, the service from Mifsuds was great, I travelled down there in July last year(not the best time of the year to be in South Devon,what with traffic and holiday makers) from Cardiff to collect and they had a parking space in their carpark reserved for me and a cup of tea when I got there.
 
I have part exchanged with Mifsuds, I was offered a very good price on my EOS 1Ds body this year. I have bought a number of lenses and flash guns from them also and their service is up there with the best; friendly and helpful.
I would have no hesitation recommending them.
