Yes
I sent a parcel by Parcelforce 48 late afternoon yesterday, and was told that I may have missed the collection, so it was likely to be picked up today, and delivered Tuesday.
No problem, so I informed the buyer to expect it Tuesday, but to check the tracking as it could possibly come Monday, and to arrange to be home to suit.

I've just checked the tracking to discover that an attempted delivery was made today at noon.

First of all, that's pretty amazing for a 48 hour service, but it made me wonder just how much extra I would have paid for 24 hour delivery and how much later it might have arrived !
Of course, I could have paid even more for Saturday delivery...........

Cornwall to Corfe Castle, so not on each others doorsteps.

Also, here in Cornwall we are often told to expect things to possibly take longer due to fewer collections etc

Sometimes they load the van for the next day, but will drop a few off if it's on their way home, but never had that at noon. Richer Sounds delivery system has twice managed next day to the Highlands on free delivery instead of 24 hour paid for, which only shows how much the other robbing mail order companies are ripping us off. Entirely depends. Richer Sounds aren't always the cheapest so might factor in a little wiggle room. Also it depends on the size and weight of the consignment, sometimes it can't go on the free delivery because of that and the retailer will honour the no charge.

Maybe it was delivered by a temp driver who is unaware of Parcelforce's requirements for default uselessness. :ROFLMAO:

One was a soundbar for the tv and the other was a pair of reasonable size standmount speakers, so both quite bulky packages.

Serendipity, your package caught the right van at the right time, it got to the hub at the right time to catch the next leg vehicle which got to...etc.

Lets hope it continues with my lottery ticket tonight...

Strange isn't it that even when a delivery exceeds expectations people still feel the need to insult the company :(

For heavensake it was a joke.

I have to agree, it's amazing how many people seem to have problems with delivery firms, as on the whole I can count on a single hand the times I've had delivery issues out of hundreds of online purchases, no matter who has delivered them and that includes a fair number delivered via yodel before anyone asks

most are ok.. even if a recorded parcel thing etc, that will fit through the post box.. the local postie will self sign and put through - yes I know he is taking a risk, but when been here, have taken in larger things for neighbours - so I am ok with him and he is ok with me. He has moved on now, and a lovely post lady who does the same. #obviously if too big and neighbours not about then it's down to the PO.

99% of my stuff sent by courier or via the postie arrives with no problem but there have been some monumental screw ups. Trouble is, they're the ones that stick in your mind.

I've had parcels just lobbed over the gate into the back garden, landing on a brick patio.

I've had parcels left in a "safe place" that turned out to be the wheelie bin. On bin collection day.

I've had a guitar that cost £1300 left leaning against the front door, in full view of the street, in a big cardboard box with "Gibson" written all over it. Allegedly it was signed for. Apparently our dog has learned to write because no one else was at home.

Amazon do this too, ordered some mats for the new car at the weekend with free delivery (2-3 days), get the dispatch email yesterday with a delivery date for Thursday, get an email this morning (Tuesday) saying they're on the van and out for delivery today. This seems to be increasingly common in areas served by Amazon Logistics - giving very little incentive to take-up Prime.

Wait until drones start making deliveries that's when the fun will start :)

Or was I dreaming when I heard that?

Never seen to have stuff come early here but when Wex used to use city link I'd pay for next day delivery, get confirmation of tomorrow's date through only for city link to turn up the day after that. 4 occasions out of 4. Never had a bit of bother since Wex used different carriers.

This is the only thing I don't like about amaz0n deliveries, they arrive with little forward notice.

We've even had orders placed late on Thurs or early on Friday, delivered Sat & Sun. (no prime here either)

Being out for delivery, doesn't always mean you get it on the day!

It used to be, but lately this is not so....

And when exactly was my parcel out for delivery?

Parcel arrived at a carrier facility
Bristol, GB
Monday, 12 Sep

I'm still waiting for this parcel to arrive......

Now, I had an 'parcel' left Bristol a multiply times on a parcel last week...

I live 45 minutes away from Bristol, and it took over 24 hours to get to me, it actually arrived with a parcel that had been dispatched by the supplier the night before!

I've now got this sinking feeling....

That multiply 'out for delivery' times, isn't a case of the driver having the trots... But it's not actually on the van!

Parcel force 48 is up to 48 hours so not specifically a 2 day service. I've had stuff on PF 48 delivered next day.

They all use very similar or the same computer systems it really comes down to what driver you have. They're more than likely self employed so a s*** one could just as easily be working for another courier. I have weekly deliveries from just about all of them and really have issues.
