I always shoot in RAW, I use ArcSoft Panorama Maker to create my panos. Should I create my panos from the original RAW file or create JPG's then create my panos from them?

Thanks guys.

I also use photoshop and raw, never had any issues at all with it.

I'm really surprised. I would have thought you'd want - need! - to use JPEGs or TIFFs. Can I ask how it works using RAWs?

What's confusing me is that the output of the pano software can't possibly be a RAW file, so it must be a JPEG or a TIFF or something like that, right? In which case, something somewhere is converting the RAW input files into images, and that something must be making decision about white balance, exposure compensation, etc. So how does that work in practice?

(For example, if you've blown out a bit of the sky, you can recover that in the RAW-to-TIFF conversion, but only if you dial in the appropriate exposure compensation. So how/where does that happen?)

It'll output to 8, 16 or 32 bit, to be honest I have never had any problems using it, I suppose if you have a badly blown image you could convert the raw first, or just go to 32 bit and use the hdr function.

But where does the white balance get decided? That's an essential part of the RAW conversion, surely?

Sorry to bump the thread- but I'm about to make first pano (!!) and wanted to know the answer about white balance alteration (and other usual RAW edits) after stitching pls? Thanks

Don't forget with the newer versions of photoshop you can open tiff and jpeg in camera raw for any colour twweks.

I don't, I set the wb in camera before shooting, then any tiny twweks need are done after, normally I don't have to do anything colour wise.
