Panorama Help

Having used a pocket camera for panoramics I am struck by the ease and seemingly good quality you can get. The cmera i had developed a problem in that it would freeze and do nothing until removal of battery so I returned it.

The thing is I rather like the ease of these panoramas and was looking for a replacement but cannot find any info on the resolution regarding the panoramas.

Does anyone know where I can attain this info on varying cameras?
Has a test been done just on this function camera vs camera?

the camera I had was a fuji 550 and its panorama resolution was 2560 by 720 at 72dpi


any one knowing their camera model and reolutions please list below then i can compare for my next purchase of around £300

you want to buy a camera just for taking panoramas with?

Why not just use your existing camera and spent £100 on professional pano software like Autopano pro? save yourself £200 and put it towards something else.
