A few nights ago the local water company gave us notice that they were turning the water off overnight between 10pm and 6am
for essential maintenance, shouldn't be a major problem should it :thinking:

Seems one of my neighbours decided they need to fill the bath up in case they needed to flush the loo
in the night, yes we do have water storage tanks.

What happens.........................................the pressure of the water overnight causes a leak and floods the downstairs flat :(

Some people do panic over nothing, last time I heard of this was during the great storms in the 80s when we had
no electric for 10 days and there was talk of water going too, my very elderly neighbour did this every night till I pointed
that she was in fact wasting water that was already running short
 
Pressure in the tank?
 
How about pressure on the plughole of the bath overnight, if you really need an explanation.
Never asked just got told the bath leaked.

I agree some people do appear to almost panic at anything. I think it is partly a feeling that has developed in some that their ordered lives cannot be disrupted, and if there is disruption, then EEEEK! It is also media driven, don't let a reasonable response get in the way of story where the words - SHOCK, HORROR - can be used.

However, if I felt the need to fill a bath in case there was a need to use the loo in the night I think I'd be going to the doctor pretty quickly.

I'm just struggling to see how a bath leaks, except out of the plughole. If its out of the plughole then isn't that just ...draining?
Baths by their very nature are designed to be full of water.

Sorry... o_O

Edit...but yes, having a panic over a short blip in water availability is a bit OTT :-)

Only things I can think of about the bath leaking are -

did they leave it filling and forgot about it and the overflow has been defective, or

there is a leak around where the waste joins the bath but there is a shower over the bath which is normally used so usually there is very little water pressure in the bath.

I better go away and do something else - I'm thinking about how someone else's bath leaks:eek:

Yep Dave you hit it right there, most of these places have showers fitted over the bath so they are rarely filled with water, suppose with time
there has been wear a tear etc.
Personally I have a purpose walk in shower, much better :)
