Just spent several hours working on a problem after my computer did a wobbly and basically messed up all my video recordings. Saved the important ones to disc thank goodness.
However after a lot of head scratching and buckets full of coffee I think I have discovered the problem and something to watch out for

OK apps used

Panasonic HDC-SD600
special build computer
Windows XP 64 bit x 2 dual core processor ( home edition)

Having eventually managed to wade through no end of (hidden) notes deep within the program itself it says!!!!

This program may not work with windows 64 bit - Vista- and various other operating systems. Great I thought they should make that very very clear on the box.

I do have a 32 bit windows operating system on my other computer its just now finding out how to get the videos off the discs and back onto the Panasonic program.

Suppose the first step is to see if I can get the videos back onto the memory card then onto the Panasonic program.

So always check you have a compatible operating system before you buy

It is not clear from your post what software you were using that is not compatible with Win 64 bit and what exactly it did to mess up your recordings.

What format are the videos in that you saved on to disc? Why can you not just copy them directly from the discs on to the 32 bit system?

Panasonic camcorders that record on SD card in AVCHD need a specific file structure on the SD card. You cannot just copy the video files back to the SD card, the camcorder will not recognise them. MultiAVCHD, a free program, wil recreate the necessary file structure and format.

I have a Panasonic HDC SD60 and both the HD Writer software that came with the camcorder and Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 10 work perfectly in Windows 7 64 bit to edit AVCHD files from the camcorder

You could try running the program in XP compatability mode..
right click on the .exe of the program and choose 'troubleshoot compatability'
