Glasses guide trade in price, which is what I would use as a rough target for a private buy:
Ford Mondeo LX
2.0 Petrol 5-door Hatchback
5 Speed Manual Front Wheel Drive
Year: 1999 V
Mileage: 87,000

Estimated value of your car
Part-exchange Price:
Excellent condition:
£605
Average condition:
£530
Below average condition:
£460

^^ px price is not a good valuation.

£900 is not bad for a 'v' plate car. The problem you may have is that its a petrol, people want diesels these days.

I bought my 's' plate diesel for £800.

I appreciate it might not be a good valuation, but its what I use as a guide when I want to buy - on the basis that it provides a baseline value - what the seller can get trading in.

I quite agree that diesel prices seem much better at the moment.

All this discontent since you had the use of that GTi Dave?

^ your better off with the Mondy than a Voyager !!!!

What were you thinking ?

would it be worth putting 12 months MOT on it to so it looks like its £900 for a years motoring?

its depressing how little cars are worth once they get to 10 years old!, we got £125 for suzies dented R reg fiesta at trade in, depressing!

Think one of the problems would be the 2 litre. In todays fuel market 2 litre = lots of petrol money.

I get 40+ mpg out of mine. That's half urban town driving and half dual carriageway/motorway. They're not thirsty at all if driven normally. I've had almost 600 miles out of a 13 gallon tank and still 50 miles to spare on the trip computer.
Advertise it as being unaffected by the recent road tax hike. As already said a years MOT may help. I always get the inpression something may be wrong with a car if it hasn't got a full MOT.

Furry muff !! :D

7 seater V70 then ?

V70, have one, brill but the boot seats are only really for little ones and short trips. Also they're rear facing which can be a little unsettling, especially with some nob head trying to hook himself onto the tow bar.

Brill car though.

The rear seats in the V70 are actually child seats - they have the euro approval stickers on them. The downsides are spacesaver spare rather than real one, no luggage capacity when carrying people in the back, and access.

When I do the run to pre-school I have kids fighting to be in the back. I know some people say it must be dangerous but if you look at the amount of space between the back of the car and the childrens bodies and compare to the same in a mini mpv (or even a small car like a corsa/ka/etc) I think they are a lot safer. Potentially an issue getting them out quickly in an accident though.

A friend of mine has an R reg voyager, much better built than the newer ones and you have easy access to all the kids (and those sliding doors - you really dont appreciate them intil you have kids)

Must remember people are feeling the pinch right now-unless its a new l or vr lens they dont wanna spend their money LOL
