Overlay symbol on to image in Lightroom?

Hi,

Is it possible to add an arrow symbol on to an image in Lightroom (v6.14) to point out a feature in the landscape?

Thanks,

jerry

Surely if you download a png arrow, you can add it as a layer, and position it as and where you want. I know in PS CTRL T will let you shift it pretty much anywhere. Not sure in LR though, as I don`t use it.

Yep.

Select your image. Go into the Print Module. Set a paper size to the same size as your image - you may need to go borderless.

Go to the "Page" heading. Under that you will see "Identity Plate". You will need to upload your arrow as a png to the correct folder, but if you click to add the identity plate you can select an alternative. Choose your uploaded arrow and drag it onto your image.

Finally, you need to print the file to a jpeg to combine arrow + image. This will create a separate file. Under "Print Job", choose "Print to jpeg" from the dropdown.

Many people use this to add watermarks to prints, so if you search for that in Google, and use an arrow instead of a copyright logo, you should be good to go.

Not sure if Lightroom does layers, as such?

Thanks. I've got that in principle but having downloaded what i thought was an arrow symbol on a transparent background, the background is showing......:banghead:

If it`s ok with you. Upload 2 pix here, with an "x marks the spot" on one, and I will add an arrow for you (you`ll have to choose one).

Thanks very much for the offer, Paul, but I found some software online to remove the background, so i think I'm sorted now!:)

No worries, mate. Just pleased you got it sorted

Well a very quick and dirty way to mark something in LR is to use a small brush with very aggressive settings and paint over the image.

Personally, I prefer to add lines or arrows later in PS or even Preview, but it's sort of possible if you want.
