If this has been discussed somewhere before, feel free to merge with that thread.

This has to be one of the worst cleaning jobs going. I've been using some Mr Muscle, and while its been moderately successful in removing some of the grease and grime, its still left wanting.

I've heard good things about a product called Oven Mate, which you can buy for about 8 quid a bottle from Lakeland. Anyone on here had first-hand experience of it and care to recommend it? Any other products used successfully you'd care to recommend?

Do I get today's prize for the dullest post?

I can recommend Oven Pride for your shelves. You get a ziplock bag and a bottle of solution, you whack the grilles in, add the solution and leave it overnight, it'll strip the crap off  just don't get it on your skin :suspect:

There's also an oven pride spray for inside the oven that's spotty dog, really does work.

Hob-brite liquid if you've got an electic glass top hob (halogen etc). It's not great, but it's better than soapy water etc.

get one of those oven cleaning guys to come round and do it, he took my mates to bits and made it look new , i'm thinking of buying it for my wifes birthday :D

Mr Muscle is all I have ever used and can get our oven looking brand new, but the excellent result is down to a fair bit of elbow grease as well.

An old boy lives across the road from me, his wife died many years ago. His 2 sons still live with him and must be in the 40 to 50+ age range. They never clean their oven. Every couple of years or so they throw it out and get a new one.

That's one big example of living in a throwaway society now!.

Stick all the shelves in the dishwasher. Some muck still on them when they come out but washes off easy then. Guess you could soak them with a dishwasher tab dissolved in hot water if no dishwasher.

The best way is to keep on top of it! Which I aim to do but never get round to!

I have had a guy from Ovenu (franchise so 1 in most areas) who spends around 3 hours taking shelving to his van and getting his head in the oven and it honestly comes out looking like new. £80-£90 so we get this done once a year.
