being confined to the house at the moment and getting bored . I decided to go back through my external hard drives and see if I could improve on old shots taken with bigger nikon and canon cameras and lenses .to be honest though there was not that much of leap forward as expected . I suppose modern mirrorless bodies and lenses plus sensors have improved that much that even using up to date pp software doesn't do that much ... a selection of pics will follow once uploaded to flickr

I've been doing this recently in my case with Canon 300D, 10D and 20D pictures. Using more modern software is helping but one big shock is the size of the files in those days.

will have to wait for my lads help as he mentioned the other day I have older stuff backed up from apple aperture days

Sometimes it’s fun going back through old stuff and seeing what you can do with it but I think with the standard of cameras and lenses now the old stuff can still look old.

I was looking back last weekend, and I thought, "do photos have to be good"?
I had a few photos showing different ways a river was used, the photos are rubbish really, but together they bring back the memories and atmosphere.

So to me, the answer is no, technical perfection stops us enjoying photos that could be enjoyed if we forgot the quest for perfection.

Photos have to tell a story. Technical excellence can help with that. A good story with poor technicals is better than a pristine but boring picture.

At the moment my face is healing nicely after my fall ,I can even wear glasses again for short periods .. but I have developed a heamatoma on my left leg that has signs of infection . So now on strong A/biotics till it goes , can’t walk much so virtually house bound and getting bored. .. the above pics are just something to do .
I did notice though that if for any reason I have to give up I’ve got at least 27,000 unprocessed RAW files to play with LOL
