i aquired a load of darkroom gear and amongst the bits and bobs was a box of developer, film and paper, the dust is thick on everything and im gonna have to clean it all up before i attempt to use any of it, so it must not have been used for a while...

the films are dated as use before august 1991!!!! theres about 15 films as well, mostly high speed black and white but some is colour and some appears to be roll your own flavour in what i can pressume are reusable canisters.

luckily i know a bloke whos doing a uni course and enjoys using out of date stuff, so ill palm it all off on him!

I have a fridge full of O.O.D film - and it all exposes and develops ok.

I bought some o.o.d film once, admitedly it wasn't 16 years out of date... but it worked fine. Why dont you do some random pictures and use up a couple of rolls to see if it any good?

Film keeps well past it's use by date in the fridge, but at normal room temperatures, it deteriorates pretty rapidly. It's not an exact science though so it might be worth exposing a roll, you never know your luck, although 15 years might be pushing it. ;)

If you keep film in the fridge leave it out for 24 hours at room temperature, or at least overnight for any condensation to disappear.
