Occasionally i shoot in raw + jpeg.

Is there a quick way i can find which files have both a raw and a jpeg version so i can delete one?

Running out of hd space so need to do a clear out....

DupeGuru - it'll find duplicate filenames, which will let you delete the JPEG or RAW version.
There'll be other duplicate finders on Macupdate for free or less than DG.
Hope you've at least got an external drive to backup your files using Time Machine, just in case you delete something you shouldn't have.

Cheers, i shall have a look.

SInce i use a laptop, i have a HD at my flat and another at my gf's, time machine to both. One less thing to keep me awake at night!

Just recalled DG let's you delete 10 duplicates at a time, so it's sort of free if you can put up with multiple relaunches to do all you need.
If you save the search before quitting, it'll save a lot of time on subsequent relaunches.

As long as it will point me to a folder with the dupes i can manually delete anyway.

Cheers

You can use the Show in Finder option, or select the corresponding box to tick, then delete.
Go download it, install and have a look/play - it's easier than me describing it.

You could write something using Apple Script or unix scripts but a simple way would be to

  • Bring up a finder window.
  • Hold [cmd] and press [F] to display file search.
  • Click "This Mac"
  • Change search string to: [Kind] is [Image] [All]
Then when finder has found everything click on the column heading "Name"

Now you can scroll through the list and see any files that have both NEF and JPG versions.
