I was wondering what the ups and downs were as I have been looking at lenses in particular.
Will this affect the guarantee or are they worlwide.
Or is it a false economy as I will probably end up getting hit with the taxes anyway.
All advice welcome.

A trawl through the Shopping, Suppliers and Bargains forum will reveal lots of recommendations for One Stop Digital in HK. Very efficient outfit that will refund taxes imposed by Customs if it happens.

Used the around half a dozen times and will do again.
Check the manufacturer of what you want to buy re warranty.

+1 for Onestop Digital. They will cover any costs for import duties/taxes. The prices they quote on their website are landed costs, so thats all you have to pay.

AFAIK, Canon L lenses have an international warranty but I don't know about the other manufacturers.

Thanks for all the replies, as I have been looking at getting the Tamron 90mm macro at a pretty competitive price so will check out the warranty as I believe it can be switched to international. I did make one purchase and didn't get taxed and that was for my nifty fifty lens but at the price I thought it was worth it.

Only thing with getting a lens of Onestop is that if it has to go back for repair and they dispute the fault it's likely to cost you £36 return for the lens.
