Options - Sigma 500mm F4.5 APO DG C/AF

Hi,
I am considering purchasing a used Sigma 500mm F4.5 APO DG C/AF for my Nikon D610. Primarily it is the only 500mm prime within my budget, but it is a old lens !
Reviews I have read, suggest it is a good lens, albeit old. OR should I just keep saving for the newer Sigma 500mm f4 Sport (Don't think I will ever save enough for the Nikon lens)
Has anyone here had first hand experience ?

I used to own one, it is a nice lens for what you will pay, a bit contrasty but nothing that was too bothering. Would you not be better off with a Nikon 200-500? it would be faster focus, as good IQ and more versatile?

Thanks for the info, I really wanting a prime lens and the Nikon is out of my budget. I normally use my Sigma 150-600 so the Nikon 200-500 offers nothing new, however, if one comes about at the right price who knows.

Thanks, LCE advised that this lens has just been serviced however, I did not understand the lingo that c-af means Canon fit not the Nikon I wanted !
It is good advice and I will email Sigma if another turns up for sale with a Nikon mount - Thanks again.

C-AF is continuous autofocus. I had the lens and used in on a D810. It was fairly sharp wide open and was good enough for static subjects struggling a bit with moving ones. If you shoot lots in low light it might be worthy of consideration otherwise one of the long zooms would maybe be a better choice. The 200-500 is a great lens but not that quick to focus so much will depend on what you are shooting and in what light.
