Opinons on GoPro HD's ?

Guys,

Has anyone used a GoPro HD....I've been reading a bit about them, reviews and watching some vids. Wouldnt mind getting a real feel of what people think.

I would also question if anyone uses both - a DSLR/GoPro Combo?

Just curious as I'm in the market of getting a 60D or 7D anyway but the GoPro caught my eye.

They are good as an action camera, but the footage wont look anywhere like the quality you will get from a HD SLR.
 
They're 2 completely different sytems really. Get both :)

I will have a look at both. Will be getting the DSLR first to play with.....

I was also wondering if you use footage from both the DSLR and the GoPro will you see such an obvious difference that it may look completely terrible and may not be usable.

Not sure but using footage from both could be an idea. Well if I had both thats what I would want to do.

I can tell the difference between them pretty much straight away, as I would assume a lot of people can. But, there is no reason why you wouldn't use both, the go pro will get shots just not possible with a HD SLR. If you want an idea of what the footage will look like check out youtube, there are plenty of examples.
 
For the price the gopro packs a mighty punch. I use mine alongside my 550d for watersports videography and it really covers some amazing angles, especially pov and custom mounts. As well as full HD video it covers interval photos from 1sec up to 120 sec and can be bought with an lcd viewfinder if you need to frame your shot.

In some cases I've had better footage off my gopro for HD video than my dslr although most of the time its the other way around. Just such a great bit of kit and you can take it anywhere unlike the dslr. I've even seen some pretty good video's with gopro's mounted to the hot shoe of dslr's which will allow video and photo's of the same event / trick etc.
 
Recently I have been watching quite a few documentaries and other shows on Discovery/Nat Geo etc and have been amazed by the amount of Go Pro cams that are used to produce these programs. The best use I saw was two Go Pros mounted to a RC car and then driven into a pride of lions!

Wicked set of programs. I bought a go pro to go diving with. Pretty happy with the results.

The lens isn't quite right for diving but can still get some good results. Some people who use it solely for diving have done lens mods to get around this. Check out the gopro forum, there's loads of info.
 
I have one it's fantastic I mount it on my bmx just for fun, not had a reason to use it for anything else yet. Deff worth getting, bought mine in Texas they are a lot cheeper in the states
 
oh get one i LOVE mine and take it everywhere. Get the screen that attaches to the back to as it makes it much nicer to use. LOVE MY GOPRO HD :thumbs:
