As above, i would like some professional opinions on this ebay Fresnel light please, thanks in advance HERE
 
Heard mixed things. They're pretty much a part for part copy of the arri heads, they even take the same spare parts.

Got one colleague who says great things about his various eBay arris of various powers, and one who bemoans the quality of the glass elements.

I would use them with an rcd each, if I were you... But think I'm gonna get a set too.

Be interested what you think of it :)
 
How many watts would you really need for a H&S?

Because that close to a focussed 1000watt bulb strikes me as torture

I may have linked to the wrong one Phil, they start off from 150 watts, and go up to 1000, i was thinking of a 300 watt, but i'm not sure how good they are, as i thought Fresnel's were normally quite pricey.

I use a 300w ARRI, is plenty enough power

Thanks Hugh, is it good enough for studio work ? or is it only suitable for homes only, with the ebay ones, their is not much difference in price from the 300 to the 600.
 
using them for head and shoulders shots? presumably of people who aren't particularly used to being photographed? I'd really consider sticking with flash if I were you.

It works well in both - most of the time I use it for boudoir shoots, so not normally models
