Quote from BBC article -
The text of the memorandum of understanding says the UK and OpenAI will "improve understanding of capabilities and security risks, and to mitigate those risks".

It also says that the UK and OpenAI may develop an "information sharing programme", adding that they will "develop safeguards that protect the public and uphold democratic values".

OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman said the plan would "deliver prosperity for all".

I guess they accidentally left off the 'shareholders' word from the end of the last statement

AI's fundamental problem is that there seem to be no reliable methods for validating its performance.

Perhaps there are tools that pour out millions of lines showing each step of each calculation but who is going check such output? Worse still: what happens if you give an AI system control of dangerous machinery, such as a car?

This law firm has been doing some research...

A big improvement compared to many drivers on the roads!

If it's an MoA, not too much yet to worry about. However I do worry about HMG cosying up to yet another American IT company. Amazon and Microsoft already control most HMG systems indirectly through software as a service and platform as a service agreements. It means they have the fabled "kill switch" for critical UK infrastructure effectively.

I wonder just how many government big data systems shouldn't be on external storage yet are.

I also wonder just how many decisions to put them there would bear close examination by a fraud squad let off the leash...
