Online/distance learning courses

Hi All

First post!!

I am looking for an online/distance learning photography course to get me going - something which starts at the beginning.

Ive seen a few but am hesitant as Im not sure that they would be reconised in the UK.

Can anyone recommend a great course for me?

Hi, and welcome to the forums :)

I know a few on here are doing / have done the Open University course. If you do a search, you will be able to find the relevant threads.

I am in the process of doing the basic photography course at http://www.schoolofphotography.com/ which provides excellent feedback on submitted work. As for courses being recognised, it all depends on what you are planning on doing at the end I suppose.

have not heard of that course, but there are four or five of us that completed the Open University Course on this forum.

This is link to the thread which also goes into pros and cons towards the end. It's only 10 weeks which was about right for me. Included in the price is your own copy of Elements 5. As long as you have a Digital SLR, I would recommend the course as it helped force me to have a weekly photography mission which in turn accelerated my learning. Downside was the lack of professional feedback, this forum is much better for constructive critique.

The Open University Course will be right up your street. Also, if you shop at Tesco's you can pay for the course with Clubcard vouchers (£37 in vouchers)...Bargain.:thumbs:
