Hi lailock & welcome to TP <waves>

Depends on...stuff. Like: is it accredited by a recognised body, what do you get for your £500, what do you want out of it... can you give us a bit more info?

why would you want an online diploma. I dont think id trust a doctor with an online diploma so why is it any different for any other job?

No one cares about a diploma in photography.

Do it because you like the course content, not because you think it'll get you somewhere.

Yes and be sure you cant get more out of buying a couple hundred pounds worth of good dvds

As has been said the first question has to be why do you want the diploma

the next question is will this course give you what you want

The third question is can you achieve the same thing by doing something else

The fourth question is why do you feel you still want a diploma

I do want to do it for the love of photography but as a job too and to day yes you do need it in black and white i am a bricky/ multi skilled builder i dont have it in black and withe so its hard to get a job

If anyone was interested in the fact that you have a diploma (doubtful anyone would) then they would be even less interested if it was bought on the internet

not many people do have anything in writing.... in this industry a strong portfolio and reccomendations gets you ten times furthur than a diploma as they are not highly rated by 90%

You don't get jobs as a photographer by having a photography diploma. You get jobs as a photographer by having a great portfolio. Sometimes you get a foot in the door by having a good photography degree from a good university with a reputable photography course.

I got my job as a full time, salaried commercial fashion photographer solely off the back of my portfolio and someone I knew telling me about a job vacancy at a company.

Yes, just to add agreement to all of the above, its your portfolio that people look at. You could get a diploma because you understand the theory but your work could suck. If your work is great no one will care if you have a diploma or not. Ergo you don't need a diploma.
