I'm not sure where I should put this so I'm posting it in here, please feel free to move it if needed.

Later this week I'm off to photograph a wedding in New York and when there I plan on visiting a few sights including the new One World Observatory.

I have read in their prohibited items that you are not allowed they have mentioned tripods.

I just wonder has anyone tried to bring one in and is it just that your not allowed to use them?

Thanks in advance,
John

Hi, did you find this out?

I've been up the top of the rock, empire state and statue of liberty. All 3, my tripod was taken off me.

Yea wasn't able to get it up to the top of the One World Observatory, it was taken off me going through security. I was given a ticket and got it back when I got back to the ground floor again. It wasn't a big deal not having it up there, as there was b****r all to photograph.

When I was at the top of the Rock I didnt have my tripod with me, however other people did have theirs and were able to use them without any hassle.

Ah fair enough. I got told you have to have a permit at the top of the rock...the permit though enables you to sell the pictures you take. It's apparently a yellow band or something

You don't need a tripod at Top of the Rock or the Empire State Building. Plenty of concrete to rest you camera on.
