One Week, and Anything Goes….. Or Photography, My Art – Week 7

The idea of this challenge is to not only test your technical ability and your ability to ‘see a picture’, but also to develop your imagination in creating a piece of artwork, and to encourage lateral thinking. Please note, that a straight picture can be just as pleasing artistically as a highly manipulated one, so this challenge should be open to straight and manipulated images, and judged on their artistic merit

1. As I'm late starting this challenge, I have decided that we will extend the time scale of this challenge for this one. Challenge begins immediately after this posting. The challenge will run for the rest of this week, and the week following, ending at 9:00pm on Monday Night (31st August) Judging to begin straight after, and be posted Monday before midnight. The new subject for challenge 8 to be posted some time on the Tuesday.
2. Entries should be new images, and not ones that have previously been seen on TP (Unless the image has been significantly altered in some way by PP which makes it a new image.)
3. Any and all photographic technique at your disposal is allowable to create your image. Judging should be based on the final image, regardless of the technicalities of how the image was created.
4. Images can be posted at any time during the week up until a cut off time determined by the judge on Monday evening.
5. Winner to choose a title for the next challenge and judge it at the end of their week.
6. Titles and Subjects can be interpreted however the photographer sees fit, thinking both inside and outside the box should be encouraged. (If you feel that your image could be misinterpreted as not being relevant, a short accompanying explanation note is permissible/encouraged.)

Yes sorry I put the wrong date, it would not give people much time. Just to clarify everybody the cut off date is the 31st August.

onefunkypenguin - not your favourite subject?

never been interested in transport really, however, i will give it a go, got my 5dmk2 and few new lenses to play with so im def in!

I think the title of this should be shortened to just...

Photography My Art. then maybe the current subject title - (after all I don't think we have managed a single week on any of them have we?)

I'm not going to have computer access at all for the next week, so it's unlikley that I'll be able to participate this time round. :shake:

Yep - I reckon we'd be better referring to it as Round 8 for the next one onwards.

I'm reconciled to not getting very far this time, i'm sure that there are loads of people from the transport forum going to swamp things. Doesn't mean i'm not going to be posting something pushbike related though

Please bear in mind, this was the first time I've taken my dslr camera out! It just so happened I snapped these as all my other photos are of my kids!

I love the contrast in #2.
Not bad at all for the first outing with a new DSLR.

One from me, spent a theraputic afternoon yesterday cleaning around 2000 miles worth of road-grime from the bike, and just thought it deserved a shot to prove it does get cleaned occasionally...

Gunboat, in a sea of fear (name the song) :)

Ohhh, I forgot about this comp! I'm off to Greece tomorrow guys! So congrats in advance to whoever wins. A lot of the proceeding images certainly kicked the s*** out of mine :D

Just found this while still going through the site finding my way around and seeing what I can pick up and thought I have a few pics taken today that would fit so here they are.

There are some absolutley gorgeous shots coming in at the moment. a couple with some fantastic processing work - (can you tell I'm a little jealous?)

I've only just got back online. I'll have a look to see if anything I did seems suitable, but I don't think it will be this time round.

Aaah - Too late anyway.

Good luck to all who managed to enter. Tough competition this time!

DRUM ROLL!!!

The Winner is ben306. :1st:. Well Done!

Really liked this one. Great framing, works very well in black and white. The perspective is just spot on for me. Also the feeling of speed is captured well too.

2nd Place is Comfy with his second photo of his post.

It was a very close call between yourself and the winner. This is an awesome photo, especially as I really like Falmouth as I visted it alot when I was younger. Strong powerful colours here, great framing and subject matter.

3rd Place is Kiwi Jaz.

Interesting subject matter. Really like the way you have used a mixture and B&W and colour. I do like the B&W and Colour mixture photos. Also like the way you also cropped the photo by chopping the front and back wheels, works well.

Sorry its taken me while to decide the placings. Thanks for everybodys entry, great photos in this comp and well done to everybody.

So its over to ben306 for the next challenge! :D

Well done to everyone, especially Ben :)

I really liked kejago's pic too, wonderful play on colours

Thanks for my placing :), and some really good images from everyone who took part!

Well done Ben. Really well caught image there.

My own personal favourite was Comfy's 2nd shot. I keep coming back to look at that one. I could live with that on my wall!

Well done once more to all who entered.

Thanks. Believe it or not, that is pretty much out the camera. Bit of sharpening... and that's it.

Your 2nd pic is really good. My favourite of the bunch here. Nice work.

Congratulations to everyone that entered and especially Ben306. Really like that shot.
Really liked the entry from TheBigYin too..not sure what it is that I like about it..probably the nice shallow dof.

I'd like to add my (belated) congratulations to Ben306 - i've always been a sucker for a nice black and white shot.

Kiwi Jaz - thanks for the comment - better make the best of it - that bike probably won't be clean again until january/february when I take it off the road for a refurb.

 Anyone told Ben306 he needs to set up the next challenge? looks like we're slipping time-wise again :naughty:

Well done Ben

Good imaginative shot of the train.
