One Week, and Anything Goes….. Or Photography, My Art – Week 4

The idea of this challenge is to not only test your technical ability and your ability to ‘see a picture’, but also to develop your imagination in creating a piece of artwork, and to encourage lateral thinking. Please note, that a straight picture can be just as pleasing artistically as a highly manipulated one, so this challenge should be open to straight and manipulated images, and judged on their artistic merit

1. You have exactly 1 week to come up with an idea, photograph it and submit it. Start date Monday – Judging to be some time between Sunday Night and Monday morning. Then the new subject to be posted some time on the Monday.
2. Entries should be new images, and not ones that have previously been seen on TP (Unless the image has been significantly altered in some way by PP which makes it a new image.)
3. Any and all photographic technique at your disposal is allowable to create your image. Judging should be based on the final image, regardless of the technicalities of how the image was created.
4. Images can be posted at any time during the week up until a cut off time determined by the judge on Sunday evening.
5. Winner to choose a title for the next challenge and judge it at the end of their week.
6. Titles and Subjects can be interpreted however the photographer sees fit, thinking both inside and outside the box should be encouraged. (If you feel that your image could be misinterpreted as not being relevant, a short accompanying explanation note is permissible/encouraged.)

Good subject by the way!

here's my effort.

train lines and lines of the architecture and shadows, hopefully this covers the criteria!

I like this idea. Pity I didn't spot this forum before today. I passed a perfect picture for this yesterday, but it was a bit out of my way to get it!

I presume this is open to everyone?

Thats where the point-and-shoot in the shirt pocket comes in - one thing i've learned by doing a photo-365 is to take a camera with me everywhere and never miss a chance of a shot.

The challenge is well and truly open to all, the more the merrier, and there's still plenty of time to get something in before sunday evening.

I had the camera alright, but was on a Motorway, so I let it pass :bonk:

That's one thing I learnt alright, I never leave it at home! Missed a picture once because of it and now it's a permant fixture.

heres my attempt taken on sunday or monday  i cant remember done a little bit of editing (upped the exposure, saturation, sharpened it and i think that was it lol)

edit: its lost alot of detail while being uploaded :( looks alot sharper on my screen grrr.

Here's my attempt! Decided to take advantage of the rain and reflections for this one.

A lot of fantastic entires this week. Well done everyone for your submissions.

3rd place goes to Karmagarda

Fantastic shot showing wavy lines going in all directions. Really liked this shot (perhaps I can relate to it seeing I am in Scotland and it rains a fair bit! :) )

2nd place goes to Matt L

An interesting take on lines with this shot. Looks like a cheese grater to me.
Interestingly, when you scroll up or down with this picture, it appears to be moving.

1st place goes to onefunkypenguin

I just love this shot (pity it wasnt bigger though).
Lots of interesting lines and angles and would look equally as good as a B&W shot. Love the way the curved path leads your eye into the photo.

Congratulations onefunkypenguin!, and over to you for this weeks challenge. The state of the free world rests upon your shoulders my friend!

:clap::clap: congrat's to onefunkypenguin - nice shot (once you'd navigated out to imageshack to see it!) - interested to see what subject you'll come up with for next week. Hopefully we can keep it a nice open one, and maybe even gather a few more entries again - looks like our little challenge might be taking off here :woot::woot::woot:

I'm afraid mine was just making the numbers up this week, but there were some outstanding images - loved the moving green thing by Matt L personally - reminded me of those mystery object photo's in a quiz "this is a everyday item looked at from a unconventional angle" - my first guess was the inside of a washing machine drum though cheese grater was another thought!

Also liked the lines in the cornfield picture from PauloWanClift - mainly because it's probably the dryest looking ground i've seen all week!

Here's looking forward to next week

Wow! Wasn't expecting 3rd

Congrats onefunkypenguin :)

The photo opportunity I passed was quite similar to PauloWanClifts but it was in a field of yellow flowers, possibly Rapeseed. Someone had driven through the field and the tracks left behind looked pretty cool. I really like that one too Paulo.

wowza, wasn't expecting that!

don't know why i did that, i will use flickr in future, thing is the shot is also on there... :bang:

thanks for the win, whooo, first time iv won anything in a while.

il think about the competition, been ill in bed all day so need time to get brain in gear.

Sorry to hear you've been unwell - don't worry about creating the new challenge entry thread 'till tomorrow mate - at least we've got a topic for now...

some nice creative work there. Well done to all the winners. I liked all of them, I also particulalrly like that mono image by uniquegardens.

That was a really good idea for a title, as it gave plenty of scope for interpretation.

Now- Onto the next one

how do i make the new entry thread? confused!

Hi Onefunkypenguin.

The easiest way of doing it is to copy / paste the entire first post from this thread, so that the rules and so forth remain unchanged. Then just put in the title above - (See where I have put - TITLE GOES HERE).

Once you have copied that post to your clip board, you click on the button that says START NEW THREAD, and just click PASTE in the main text box.

then of course - over type the chosen word LINES with your new title JOURNEY. make sure you overtype any dates and other minor points that are specific to your challenge, then you're good to go.

I think that's it. -
