One rule for them and------------

This is a case where we should simply send the army in, get them off the property and any refusal sees their caravans being crushed. Wont see it happening again then!

There's no reason to bring the army into this. The police are responsible for front line law enforcement and need to take action here. If they can't, or won't, the public are entitled to ask serious questions about their role.

Quite.

The best way to "harm" these people is to take away their vehicles, but then you are left with a bunch of travellers stuck in one place as they can't tow their caravans.

However, rigorous inspections of said vehicle for road worthiness, tax & insurance should take place.

I was told by a traveler himself that they are deliberately camping on council land as the councils refuse to give them somewhere to stay ( something they are legally obligated to do) and they are trying to force tier hand.
I a long time ago lived in a dump in Wolverhampton, a large amount of travelers had moved onto local playing fields and as I went to the shop I heard the police explaining to the travellers that they could not protect them after dark from the locals. It went dark, the locals helped by the local kids came out of the Rough hills tavern ( Rough dump tavern) and started to destroy all their cars and vans and some of the traveler men ,Within an hour they were gone. On this occasion they were out gunned !

Our council built a very nice site for the travellers as per the law, it was filled quickly, several years later some/most/all have never moved since........Travellers?
Some camped up on land that was part of an industrial estate, we called the factor who called the police, within 10 minutes they hitched up and leaving, the police let them get 50 yards and stopped them, some were sent back to collect the rubbish left behind and take it with them. 50 yards down the main road they were stopped again and a vehicle check began, not a good day for them.

I can remember proper " Gipsieys" we would not have called them travelers in those days, they came and camped on the outskirts of our village every year, horses, wooden caravans, selling cloths pegs and cooking over an open fire.
No one said a lot to them for fear of getting cursed ;)

Same where I lived, they did jobs around the village for people to earn money for anything they might need or bartered
for food, most people grew their own veg, kept chickens etc (we had proper gardens)
Friendly lot came every year, us kids all played together and nothing ever went missing.
It's one reason why I hate it when people refer to these travellers as Gypsies, there is a world of difference
