Just when I was thinking this week couldn't get any worse! some idiot in a Van forgot then when driving on roads you should stick to your side of the white lines. I am now one wing mirror short - which just happens to be electric, heated and have the indicator repeater in it.

If there is any change out of £200 I'll be surprised :( Hopefully his van has a mark or two on it.

I had that happen to me a while back, this oncoming car crossed the line and hit my mirror. The bang was horrendous - scared the crap out of me. The **** never even slowed down just kept going. I stopped and got out expecting to find serious damage but the mirror had been knocked back and just the heated glass broken. I was lucky to get away with 25 quid just for the glass, but if it's the whole mirror unit I suspect you're right.. 150 quid upwards I'd think.

I ha that happen as well....

but I was on a motorbike

I got hit on the right hand by his wing mirror (think it was a merc , he didn't stop ) . It bent the alloy brake lever round my fingers like a banana & it hurt so much I thought I'd lost my fingers. My hand went purple for a week :'(

Sorry to hear of the impending financial outlay :(

What vehicle is it for....?

Nightmare Rob! I hope the cost isn't too great

happend to me as well a few years ago on a narrow country road, both wing mirrors touched at while doing over 50mph. Almighty bang and scared the crap out me. Wasn't cheap to replace either, needed new heated glass and cover, came to over £70. The vauxhall replacement cover comes primed but unpainted, they kindly offered to have it sprayed for me for about £50. Needless to say i declined. So i ended up going to halfords and buying a couple of tins of paint and laquer.

Certainly know how to charge !

Its for a Skoda Octavia :( there are a few chips in the door where it scratched it as well, but they need to either be left or go to a body shop for a re-spray

Pitty it's a Skoda, thats just about the only range I can't get a healthy discount on :(

Re the paint damage, give your local "chips away" a call, you'll be surprised what they can do for very little money

Thanks anyway, I hate driving a car that looks like its been through the wars. Maybe next time I will buy a 4x4 just so that I win!

Bummer Rob :( That's a lot of money for a repair that wasn't your fault :( Especially if you've had to use your tripod money :'( :'(

Sorry to hear about your mishap Rob ... there are some right brain-dead morons on our roads ... :suspect: ... dare I say you were fortunate it was just your mirror ... at least you weren't hurt m8 ...

:p

Sorry to hear that Rob.

I wasn't even in my car when some 4wd who can't manoeuvre his car, took the wing mirror off my car, whacked the front wheel arch and drove off! Mirror mended (paid for by me) front wing a dent man was supposed to have mended, but every tap of his little hammer underneath the nice paint job he did, has now rusted! Looks like the wing was peppered with shot. Grrrr...don't people bug ya sometimes :bang:
