I have a couple of dabbles with C1 and I'm very tempted to give it a go, my question is mainly about workflow.
At the minute I use LR for catalog purposes (and most of my processing).
Do you use mainly a catalog or sessions in C1?
I do have a large catalog of images in my LR catalog and Im a bit wary of importing them all in C1 so I it was in my mind to use C1 in session mode then export/import my keepers into my LR catalog (presuming it best to use Tiffs to do this) and just keep the originals in my C1 sessions.

Does this sound ok? or is there a better way and should I just take the plunge into a C1 catalog?

Hi, sorry for the late reply - you may have solved this for yourself in the meantime. I don't know why you would want to use both applications as they provide virtually the same features; just a different way of doing things. I use Capture One as I found it fitted my workflow better. I almost always use catalogues and file my downloaded shots as I go. Sessions are mostly for a set of shots for a particular job and in particular for tethered sessions. Importing images into a Capture One catalogue doesn't affect the images themselves and like LR all adjustments made to RAW files are saved to the catalogue only and do not affect the original. If you edit your RAW's in C1 and save as Tiff, you don't need to export the file out of C1, just import it into LR. I'd try importing some selected images or folders into the catalogue rather than your whole library and see how you get on.

One thing I have had problems with in C1 is how quickly (or slowly) it loads large catalogues and builds previews so you might be better creating a number of catalogs for specific subjects categories etc. However, I've just upgraded to v10 and this seems to be much better. I get the feeling that the application is being actively developed which is encouraging.

Out of interested, have any other C1 users upgraded to v10? I'd be interested to find if they have seen a similar performance boost.
