I currently have On1 Photo Raw 2020, and can upgrade to 2022 for around (with a coupon a member on here kindly provided) £45. But this "AI sky swap" thingy puts me off a little from going ahead. I can't ever imagine replacing the whole sky in a photo, if you need to do that the original shot wasn't right. That's my opinion, others may vary.

If anyone has made the upgrade did they think it was worth it or not?

Thanks in anticipation.

Pete

I don't use On1 but I'd say going from 2020 to 2022 probably has other benefits such as faster running etc - for £45 can you really go wrong.

You don't have to use the AI sky swap - its there if you want it - but there is no having to use it.

Thanks for the reply Steve, you're right I don't have to use it, perhaps I made a bad choice of words, think I was asking is there enough else, besides the sky thing, to persuade me to upgrade. You could be right about the speed, I do like On1, but it can be a little slow at times.

Why not download a trial and see. I am pretty sure in the blurb they talk about improved performance etc.

I wouldn't upgrade every year - but every second or third year you might well find improvements.

Good point about downloading the trial, thanks again Steve.

Hi, I upgraded to 2022 as I have used On1 from time to time but really like Adobe Photoshop there is so much in there that I will never use, they also removed the option to access On1 photo Raw 2022 from Lightroom like a plugin. The only reason I upgraded to be honest was for the NoNoise AI option included in the 2022 but I have found that (and it seems to do this on every upgrade version) it uses a lot of computer resources, in fact I contacted them yesterday to see if I could swap out On1 2022 for the stand alone version of NoNoise AI but even though the NoNoise is a cheaper application as a stand alone from 2022 they turned me down so will just stick with Topaz Denoise AI as I can access that from Lightroom and to be honest both noise applications give near the same results IMO. Russ.

Thanks for the info Russell. I've downloaded the trial, cant see much that I'd say "Wow, that's good" to, couldn't see any increase in speed. I accept £45 isn't a huge amount of money, but I think I'll stick with what I've got for now and wait and see what 2023 brings.

Pete.

To be honest I paid to upgrade to 2022, principally for the noise reduction, however, with my olympus raw files, I found that DXO works far better. In addition, there are so many bells and whistles to on1 that I rarely if ever use. I have kept it on my computer, believing I may use it, but never do, not sure that is much help, but with hindsight, I wouldn't have upgraded.

That's why I never kept ON1 beyond trial - more bells and whistles and the core stuff that I use day to day was hidden away - behind all the trinkets I don't use.

I like On1 - but the king is DXO for me.
