On This Day in 1955 The Greatest Ever TV Comedy Show First Aired

To be honest I never got it.
Now if you were to say the Navy Lark.

I enjoyed it back in the 60's, b&w 405 lines. Never thought it that hilarious but ok.

IIRC it was something to watch to pass the time when there was nothing else available. Everyone has their preferences, and I'd have taken the Pythons every time.

I think at the time my comedy tastes didn't really extend much beyond Bewitched and I Dream of Genie. A lot of their stuff I didn't really get. I don't think American humour really caught on here until the likes of Mash and Cheers.

MASH was interesting, though a somewhat alien world of bizarre behaviour. Cheers, Friends et al seemed a little like Crossroads, but with the exciting bits removed.
