Items are for sale in the shops all the year round, wonder why the big hullabaloo saying items are now in the sales, on sale. Items have always been on sale.
For sale / On sale / not necessary at a reduced price. In the sales we assume the price has been reduced.

Just that the missus said the shops have got a sale on, the shops are always selling stuff, hence things are always for sale, in the sale :) ( does not mean selling at lower cost, simply means for sale! )
 
Lol they do indeed. And never is the good stuff reduced, always the old tat nobody wanted in the first place. Total waste of time imo.
 
Not intending to go anywhere near anything remotely retail today :D
 
Just been out looking for a new fleece for togging ,saw a super one in go outdoors with 50% off it was £30 ,outdoor shop other side of town I got it for £19.99 ,bargains have to be found not just bought
 
No such thing as a sale these days (unless your DFS of course :p). Retailers really take the p***. Finger-wag.gif

I got a nice new TV a week ago by going to the store and negotiating :-)
 
So I waited for the boxing day sales only to discover that among all the sales stuff the few bits I wanted were still at full price

Mind you I did manage to pick up a bargain in one of those pre Christmas flash sales, a nice new coat for £25

Plus 40p per mile there and back to both shops. Time lost is priceless.

Nah, there is no such thing as a bargain.

time not of consequence as per the news we are suffering the great deluge up here ,
transport costs totally ZERO as my mate wanted to go out to get away from his wife and i just tagged along ,cost to me of item in actual cash £9.99 as one of the daughters had given me £10 towards it ,the only real loss in fact is the time spent answering smart-assed replies/quotes on here :woot::woot::woot:
 
Just been looking at the shops on-line, in big red letters SALE NOW ON ! Their goods are on sale all the year round, would be nice to see PRICE REDUCTIONS NOW ON ! The cameras I have been keeping an eye on have not changed in price, only junky tat that was falsely inflated in the beginning..
 
Inflating prices before sale (ala amazon) is wrong and should be clamped down on.

However I do feel sorry for the retail industry, its very hard times for a lot of businesses (especially when competing with the likes of amazon to name a few) and sale is one of few times when a reasonable amount of money comes in.

Surely if you are expecting to buy an item in the sales, you'll already be aware of how much they cost, it doesn't matter if a price is inflated before sale, it's whether the sale price is what you want to pay or not.

True, I would not like to be a retailer..But we always want things a little cheaper, maybe the manufacturer should lower the cost a bit more, again not always that simple I know, workers have to be paid etc...

Not really. I don't keep track of prices for everything I want to buy, I have a rough idea but couldn't necessarily tell you what the price was at a week or two ago.

Amazon are pretty bad at spiking prices before a sale however.

Salaries, margins, overheads (service bills, property maintenance) etc.

Simply reducing prices permanently means cutting something else.

Sale is often a good mechanism for getting footfall. People often buy full price alongside sale items.
